The ISO 22005 standard supports businesses in ensuring - through a certification of compliance - that the business puts out location-specific, genuine and traceable food products at every stage of the supply chain.
The standard responds to the need for effective management and control of food traceability, both within the company and throughout the supply chain, in order to enhance the origin of the product and/or its particular ingredients, to enhance the value of its traditional significance, genuineness, geographical characterisation and/or production method.
On the European single market, voluntary certification of chain traceability is an important supplier selection criterion.
