Vulnerability

Vulnerability assessment of the on board piping systems

The vulnerability assessment of the piping system (bilge, sludge, black , grey) on board the Company vessels is aimed to have an updated picture of the on board current situation in order to establish ways to discharge polluted substances at sea. The goal of this service is to identify differences between as built drawings and the systems on board, as well as fittings in the lines (valves, flanges, tank covers, etc.) that could be used as access to the plant and confirm its integrity.

Service details

The service includes three (3) different phases:

  • survey preparation, including the analysis of the available “as built” drawings for each piping system
  • survey on board, as follows:
    • assessment of the bilge and sludge system against the as built drawings
    • assessment of the grey water system against the as built drawings
    • assessment of the black water system against the as built drawings
    • assessment of the sea water system
    • assessment of the food disposal system
    • preparation of the survey reports based on the survey check sheet.

    Deliverables

RINA will deliver to the Cruise Operators a detailed ship report based on the check sheet used during the on board survey. In case where discrepancies between actual installation and as built drawings are found, RINA will provide a proper drawing evaluation and revision through drawing approval engineering center.

For each assessed piping system on board individual ships ,the report will highlight the following:

    • the differences between actual situation on board versus as built drawings
    • the need of modification of the drawings
    • the need of modification of the piping system
    • the need of a new Class Approval of the modified drawings.

    Why RINA?

In a world where the environment comes first, and having carried out several vulnerability assessment of cruise vessels of different size and typology and with huge expertise of the applicable regulatory framework, RINA can provide a valuable service to the Cruise Operators.
