VCS, GS4GG and SCS volunteer programmes are a response to the challenge governments and organisations face today in relation to climate change. Their aim is to:
- quantify the social and environmental benefits in a transparent manner
- monitor emission reductions over time
- contribute to the achievement of the Kyoto Protocol objectives
- improve energy efficiency, with particular regard to the use of renewable sources
- apply international standards that are strongly focused on environmental integrity
- obtain VER credits for the carbon market.
Audit Procedure
- documentary audit to verify compliance with the standards provided by the different programmes
- follow-up, involving all stakeholders
- preparation of the final assessment/certification report and the relevant opinion.
Why RINA?
RINA, accredited by UNFCCC as the Designated Operational Entity to conduct the Validation and Verification of CDM Projects, is authorised to carry out such activities under the VCS (Verified Carbon Standard), GS4GG (Gold Standard for the Global Goals) and SCS (Social Carbon Standard) voluntary programmes.
We also provide assistance to the organisations wishing to propose new methodologies.
