Polar class

Ships intended for independent navigation in ice-infested polar waters have the necessity to be constructed with reinforced hull structures and materials capable to allow them to operate safely.

Polar class is an additional class notation created in accordance to IACS UR I with the main focus to:

• define different types of navigation in ice-infested waters
• define the correct scantling and materials of hull structures and relevant appendices
• define machinery systems’ design necessary to operate in different ice conditions.
