Naval engineering

Combat systems and physical integration design, as well as ICT, HMI, EMC and Blast & Blaze services

We can offer you the following engineering expertise and services: ICT and HMI engineering; Combat system engineering and Combat system physical integration design; Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC); Blast & Blaze.

Deliverables

The activity is carried out in accordance with the RINA governance model, which safeguards impartiality and prevents conflict of interest situations.

ICT and HMI Engineering
We develop real time simulators supporting the combat system integration and acceptance phase of naval units, including ship combat management system and Human Machine Interface (HMI) aspects.

Combat System Engineering

We provide a broad range of services:

  • Weapons and sensors integration studies
  • Weapons line of sight and firing arcs diagrams
  • Engineering support to combat system integration activities
  • Qualification and validation of combat system equipment components
  • Integrated logistic support studies and activities
  • Security studies

Combat System Physical Integration Design

We provide:
Installation studies

  • Assessment of interface requirements and configuration management
  • Definition of equipment list
  • Ship room layouts
  • Cable list general/RF interconnection diagrams
  • Cable routing and waveguide design
  • Power distribution design and layout

Electromagnetic compability (EMC) services
Our EMC services include:

  • Development of EMC studies for top side radiating equipment
  • Detailed numerical simulation of critical configurations and validation of remedial actions
  • EMC project management and process validation
  • Carry out of on-site EMC testing of top side and below deck equipment

Blast and Blaze services

We can predict blast effects on ship superstructures as a consequence of live firings, gun’s shot, and blaze due to flames and hot gases impingement onto structural and non-structural components. We optimise weapons placement on board ship and countermeasures to reduce pressure and temperature effects.
