RINA's structural monitoring ensures the safety of Europe's second longest suspension bridge

Inaugurated on July 6, 2023, the Braila Bridge over the Danube River in Romania is the second longest suspension bridge in Europe and proves the Italian excellence in the field of infrastructure. The project was funded by the European Union with an investment of €363 million from the cohesion policy and was built by Webuild in an international joint venture.

We played a significant role in ensuring the safety and durability of the bridge through our expertise in structural monitoring. We designed and realized an advanced Structural Health Monitoring System that ensures the continuous surveillance of the structural conditions of the bridge throughout its lifecycle.

Through the installation of a distributed network of several typologies of hybrid sensors, our permanent monitoring system enables real-time data collection and provides crucial information for maintaining the structural integrity of the Braila Bridge during its operating life. It allows for the detection of anomalies and damages, as well as accurate estimation of the remaining life of critical structural components.

Every day, we continue to be committed to the infrastructure sector, offering innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure the safety, reliability, and durability of engineering structures worldwide.
