RINA for a sustainable energy future

All the most strategic projects carried out by our Environmental Engineering team in 2022

Years 2020-2022 introduced several challenges for players in the energy market sector: all EU is facing the fastest energy transition, energy diversification and energy decarbonization phase in its history.

However, some EU countries are still in delay in such a transition.

How can we ensure future energy sustainability?

Do you know that in 2022 we were involved in some of the most strategic energy projects aimed at guaranteeing a more sustainable future?

In fact, we are trying to accelerate the energy transition through the following projects:

  • energy providers diversification means primarily LNG: we are supporting SNAM for the permitting and licensing of the two new LNG FSRU terminals in the Adriatic and in the Tyrrhenian sea. We are also involved in the developing projects regarding all the 3 existing LNG terminal in Italy (Rovigo, Panigaglia and Livorno)
  • energy transition and decarbonization means renewables: we are supporting several top players (Edison, Falck, Vestas, Eni, Fred Olsen Renewables, Renexia-MedWind, and others) for the siting assessment, development and permitting of new offshore wind farms initiatives in Italy (more than 20 up to now) as well as some of the largest onshore wind farm projects (both green field and complete reconstruction)
  • renewables do not work properly if we cannot store energy: we are involved in the permitting and licensing several hydro-power pumping storages aimed at guaranteeing the best efficiency of a renewable based energy future
  • decarbonization also means green H2 production and H2 based transportation: we are involved in environmental and permitting studies for several H2 projects, for the first H2 hub in Sardinia, Italy (developed by Italgas) and for H2 transition of railways and transport

RINA environmental engineering team is also involved in infrastructural projects aimed at making our country smarter and more competitive: for example, we are providing environmental and permitting consultancy for the underwater harbour tunnel, for the new Genoa harbour breakwater (which is the biggest project included in our PNRR).
