Referring to the start of the demolition operations of the Morandi bridge support columns 10 and 11, Roberto Carpaneto, CEO of RINA Consulting S.p.A. -in charge for the project management and supervision - said: "Today's achievement brings us great satisfaction: it was in fact a delicate moment, partly due to the size of the operation and to the use of specially developed mitigation measures to contain dust. Once again, the precise calculations have enabled us to ensure a high level of reliability and precision in our technical verifications.
For us, it was challenging to make sure that all the players involved in such a complex project moved together towards a common goal, while respecting the deadlines and assuring the maximum safety. Meanwhile, our role of project managers gives us the chance to experience the continuous evolution of the worksite and the city's skyline, as well as to be involved until the new bridge will be built."
RINA Consulting has been selected by the commissioning authority to perform project management, supervision, quality control and safety coordination during the execution phase of the project. This mandate applies not only to the demolition of the collapsed bridge, but also to the construction of the new bridge over the Polcevera river.
