Two weeks marathon training on three locations took place from September 10 to 18th, in Shanghai, Beijing China and Seoul Korea. The training was delivered by Jim Kerr the EMEA Expediting & Training Manager and the events organized by Kun Gao Business Development Manager, East Asia (Greater China, Japan, Korea, and Philippines) and RINA “One Belt One Road" Projects Representative with the support of the team in ASIA along with Mr. Oh Yu Suk, RINA Energy Korea Head.
Expediting is what we called old-new term, it has been there for a while but not a strong emphasis has been given to it until lately. Due to budget retrain we started to know that time is gold, and we need to ensure that we are right on schedule. Expediting is more than just rushing but knowing how to plan the time phase of a project. A good expediter will be able to salvage penalties and risk due to delay and ensure a more efficient time scale is being followed. Expediting is a pro-active rather than a re-active process. We ensure that contractual obligations are met, by achieving the project and construction requirement.
The training session was divided into two parts, one for internal candidates/ Expeditors then the other for clients. During those two sessions, we handpicked various potential expediting candidates to join the internal training, the topic ranges from the basic knowledge of what is expediting, how to expedite, how to ensure to write a good expediting report down to what makes a good expeditor. During the open discussion session our expeditors showed immense interest on asking our trainer various questions and issues they have encountered at site.
During the client training, we stressed the importance of such knowledge and service. We had client representative from various departments especially the procurement department attending the training. We ensure to introduce the principles of successful expediting helping our client in understanding the role of an expeditor and the support they provide to the supply chain.
Clients were impressed with the preparation and how the topic was presented. We had close to 80% to 85% attendees during our training. This in turn shows the importance of having an understanding of expediting and the market need. After the session the clients were happy and encouraged for RINA to have more similar events and gatherings.
Mr. Kun Gao mentioned the purposes for this event is not to only to conduct training but to give client a good understanding of who we are, what we do and other strong capabilities. This also opened door between clients who wants to further enhance their relationship and working relationship with other companies who are present at our event. We would like to make a strong impression that we are more than just a service provider; we can be our client’s partner in building bridges and at the same time be an asset towards their success. We had various type of clients ranging from the operators, EPC and logistics, Oil & Gas, Power Gen, Mining and Infrastructure. This event marked more than just training but a strong branding towards our clients.
