The Slot Die Coating is an innovative equipment to deposit innovative coatings in our Sol Gel Laboratory in Lamezia Terme (Italy).
There we develop coating solutions for covering glass that can be applied to photovoltaic fields already in place. The coatings will have to improve the self-cleaning capabilities of traditional glass, in order to minimize maintenance operations and costs as well as making them much simpler.
It allows to obtain homogenous films without waste, due to the pre-metering of the starting materials, and it is suitable for large area samples. This type of deposition can lead to continuous deposition with a perspective of industrial large-scale production.
The coatings are tested using a Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy (GDOES) equipment, which allows quantitative analysis of the elemental composition of a layer as a function of the thickness. The efficiency of the complete cell is evaluated with a Solar Simulator.
