IMO 2020 sulphur cap: the benefits of fuel quality analysis

29 Apr 2020

A webinar focused on fuel analysis to choose the best option to comply with the new sulphur limit

ship-sustainable-fuel-systemThe 0.5% sulphur cap introduced this year has affected up to 70,000 ships according to the International Maritime Organization. Stricter limits on sulfur (SOx) emission are already in place in Emission Control Areas in Europe and the Americas, and new control areas are being established in ports in China.

As a result of this limit requirement, a growing number of shipowners are beginning to weigh their options in order to ensure compliance. They face a choice of switching from heavy fuel oil (HFO) to marine gas oil (MGO), retrofitting vessels to use alternative fuels such as LNG, burning very-low sulphur or ultra-low sulphur HFO or installing scrubber systems which allow them to continue to operate on regular HFO.

In such a context, the decision to extend the scope of the fuel analysis is of paramount importance for shipowners to protect their fleet from damages caused by low-quality fuel.

On 29th April, we will host a webinar aimed at providing the shipping community with valuable insights into the advantages of fuel quality analysis based on ISO standard and ASTM Regulations. Join us to find out how to overcome the IMO 2020 sulphur challenge and comply with the new regulation.

The webinar is aimed to shipowners, ship managers and marine professionals interested in receiving information on fuel quality analysis and its benefits related to the IMO 2020 sulphur cap.
