“Digital Twinning” technology plays a key role in the progressive Digitalization of the Process Industry for increasing its competitiveness and sustainability. However, what is behind it? How we should consider it? What will be the benefit when using this approach? These are some of the questions that “Digital Twin technology in the steel industry” workshop speakers will answer.
During the event organized by the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP), presentations and round-table discussions will cover the theoretical background of Digital Twins, showing industrial applications and R&D projects on the topic of Digital Twins that are relevant to the steel sector as well as other industries. Several manufacturing companies and especially the main European steel industries are expected to attend the workshop.
As a key player in industrial innovation and a member of ESTEP, RINA will take part in this workshop to share the company digital strategy based on RINACube, which hosts the "digital twins" of ships, vehicles, industrial plants or consumer products, to a qualified steel community. Our Industry 4.0 expert Maria Murri will make a presentation on a Digital Twin application in the Hot Strip Mill to predict the mechanical properties of a coil during the hot rolling process. She will give her speech “Digital Twins for the prediction of the product mechanical properties in HSM” on November 22th at 10.25 am.
