Thin film coatings: PVD, CVD and ALD
RINA will host part of the third edition of the Coatings course organized by the Italian Association for Metallurgy (AIM). The course is structured in three modules of two days each to enhance knowledge of industrial techniques for the functionalization of surfaces. Thin film coatings is the first module which will give a better understanding of such coating technologies. Companies can take advantage from the implementation of PVD, CVD and ALD technologies in their value chain by increasing product performances. Film coatings are widely used in many industrial fields such as: optical coatings, photovoltaic, packaging, mechanics, biomedical, gas sensors and many others.
In this module, the theoretical bases of the deposition technologies are analyzed, and the main features of coatings and films are presented in relation to the main areas of use. The course will focus on physical and chemical vapor deposition techniques and is an opportunity to visit laboratories for deposition and characterization of coatings. The workshop include lectures by academic teachers, specialists from research centers and experts from the industrial world.
The course is addressed to junior and senior technicians of the industry but also to young graduates and PhD students (for example in engineering, physics and materials science) who want to enrich their knowledge in this field. Attendees will have the opportunity to better understand theory and practice of CVD, PVD and thin films technologies in general thanks to the participation of lecturers from both academia and industry.
The first day, November 14th, will take place at Università degli Studi di Roma Tre, while the following day will take place at RINA office and laboratory in Rome, Via di Castel Romano 100. The course language will be Italian and all the participants will receive an attendance certificate. Groups of people from the same company and businesses associated with AIM can get a special discount of 15%.
