RINA presents a case study of a building's certification of sustainability

The technical seminar on Green Neighborhoods is a part of the activities that the Italian Ministry of the Environment carries on in Lebanon together with the LCEC, aimed at promoting new business opportunities related to urban regeneration in Lebanon, thanks to the integration of the social, economic and environmental dimension in the creation of sustainable neighborhoods.

With a growing population density, in fact, Lebanese cities are facing increasingly important social and environmental issues, due to the absence of adequate urban planning that in recent decades has led to an unbalanced growth of metropolitan areas . The introduction of green and large wooded areas, the creation of open and more accessible spaces based on the construction of buildings with low energy consumption, the use of renewable energy and systems for sustainable management of the waste cycle, would lead to a general improvement in air quality, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and a greater resilience to climate change.

The workshop will be developed through the organization of targeted round tables, which will involve Italian developers, architects and planners, who will present their most significant experiences deepening policies, financial instruments, technologies and use of innovative materials.

Within the conference, RINA will participate with Francesco Arnesano, who will chair a speech on Certification of sustainability of a building. A case study and analysis of the actors involved. There we will presents a case study that goes along the entire process that led to a building's certification of sustainability, with a particular focus on the skills that the actors involved in the process must have (public bodies, financiers, designers, construction, maintenance and facility companies).
