An innovative software to evaluate the techno-economic potential of Solar Heat Industrial Processes

ShIP2FAIR Project software prototype already includes the Solar Mapping Module and the Module for Industrial Process Demand Characterization

As partner of SHIP2FAIR, a project funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 792276 to  foster the integration of solar heat in industrial processes starting from the agro–food sector, RINA is leading the development of an innovative software to support the concept design of Solar Heat Industrial Processes projects (SHIP) and the development of techno-economic pre-feasibility studies.

In particular, SHIP2FAIR Replication Tool will evaluate the techno-economic potential of SHIP solution starting from local solar potential and current process heat demand and will provide recommendations for the most suitable SHIP solution.

To reach these goals, we developed four modules which work together:

  • Solar Mapping Module,
  • Module for Industrial Process Demand Characterization,
  • Simulation Module
  • Integration Module

Many inputs and different steps are required, but the result will be a user-friendly tool that will give the opportunity to end-users to have a simple overview of the techno-economic feasibility of a potential SHIP installation.

Currently, a first prototype layout has been designed in order to evaluate the tool’s complexity.

SHIP2FAIR prototype includes the Solar Mapping Module and the Module for Industrial Process Demand Characterization, but other modules will be integrated in July 2020.

Are you interesting in SHIP2FAIR competitive and environmentally friendly solar technologies, innovative business lines and user-friendly approach?

Stay tuned for more updates!
