The Mero 3 project, located in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin, stands as one of the most significant and complex undertakings in Brazil’s oil and gas industry.
Its scale and complexity required a partner with deep technical knowledge, proven experience in maritime inspections, and the ability to ensure safety and compliance throughout every phase, from planning to execution.
With a long-standing global presence and extensive expertise in offshore projects, RINA was selected by Petrobras to act as the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS), ensuring that each stage of the project complied with international safety and quality standards, as well as insurance and contractual requirements.
From the very beginning, we played a strategic role in developing and validating the technical and documentary framework supporting both onshore and offshore operations.
Our experts carried out the analysis, verification, and approval of all engineering procedures for the project’s critical stages, including:
- Installation of the mooring system for the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias
- Laying and connection of rigid pipelines, flexible lines, and umbilical lines
- Installation of subsea infrastructure with systems for interconnection, distribution, and control
In the field, our inspection team conducted comprehensive Suitability Surveys on all vessels assigned to the project, ensuring their readiness, compatibility, and technical compliance for their work scopes.
During installation campaigns, our specialists were present during mobilization phase and onboard the vessels for monitoring activities such as anchoring and mooring systems, subsea connections and pipelaying, guaranteeing precision, safety, efficiency and compliance with approved procedures and international standards.
