RINA Supports University of Genoa Post Lauream Master on Pollution Environment and Health (Master di II Livello IAS – Inquinamento Ambiente Salute)

Construction and operation of industry, energy and infrastructure projects definitely originate impacts on physical environmental components such as air, water, soil&subsoil, noise etc. This subsequently originates impacts on biological and social components (flora, fauna, ecosystem services, livelyhood) and on human health.

Regulation at EU Level as well as at National levels now requires the implementation of Health Impact Assessment Studies to be developed according to International Standards (e.g. World Health Organization) and National Guidelines for certain typologies of plants and projects.

RINA is maturing a significant experience in Health Impact Assessment studies, also cooperating with universities and research centres. Within this framework, RINA Environment and Sustainability Unit:

• has prepared several HIA studies for different kind of plants;
• is supporting University of Genoa Post Lauream Master on Pollution Environment and Health (IAS – Inquinamento Ambiente Salute) providing lessons on the topic, based on real case studies;
• is offering the possibility of professional internship to one or more students of the University Master.

Once again, RINA is a proactive subject in the framework of UN Sustainable Development Goals, in this case namely the SDG No. 3 “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.
