What is the impact of COVID-19 crisis on Smart Grids Research?

22 - 26 Jun 2020

As Coordinator of MUSE GRIDS H2020 Project, we invite you to attend the EU Digital Sustainable Energy Week 2020

EUSEW is one of biggest European conferences dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe.

For the first time ever, this year edition will be organised in a digital format, under the theme "Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth".

As Project Coordinator of MUSE GRIDS, funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 824441, a project aims to develop a set of technological and non-technological solutions, such as storage systems, smart control, flexibility assets to interconnect different energy networks, towards the decarbonization of local energy communities, we are glad to invite you to join the session “Smart grids and flexibility markets: Status of demonstrators and effect of COVID-19 on the demo operation and results” organized by the BRIDGE Working Group on Regulation.

The objective of this session is to identify how some of the most relevant research projects exploring new flexibility market mechanisms and tools for smart grid operations, including MUSE GRIDS, have tackled the challenges imposed by this crisis, sharing with the audience and research community their lessons learnt and strategy to overcome the constraints affecting operation and execution of experiments and demos.

In particular, all projects participating in the session will present:

  • Status of their demos
  • How the crisis has impacted their demonstrations and experiments.
  • The countermeasures that have been implemented to continue with the research actions in this period of crisis.
  • The lessons learnt for future crisis.
  • The potential changes in the Energy Transition (positives and negatives) triggered by the crisis.

In particular, MUSE GRIDS will provide interesting insights on how the project is facing the consumer engagement in this period, not only related to European demo sites but also in Extra-EU countries such as India.
