BeVeg: Vegan Certification

An effective solution for Vegan food and product producers

BeVegProtecting the Vegan consumer is a primary goal of BeVeg International. The certification empowers consumers  to choose food products in line with their dietary and lifestyle choices.

RINA, as globally-recognized food and product safety and quality Certification Body, will carry out independent verification of quality and integrity for products and services. The BeVeg mark obtained will represent unmatched reliability for meeting the strictest of Vegan standards

Veganism is not regulated by any law, for this reason anyone can claim that their food or personal product is Vegan, with the consequence of offering no protection to consumers or legitimate Vegan production companies.

The BeVeg Vegan Certified trademark is the only Vegan symbol internationally recognized by ISO 17065 standards, guaranteeing higher standards and greater trust.

Logo BeVeg To obtain the BeVeg certification, companies have to respect these principles:

  • NO animal ingredients used in the processing, clarification, filtration, deacidification, or manufacturing processes.
  • NO animal testing on BeVeg certified products. BeVeg is cruelty-free.
  • NO cross contamination of incidental animal products or by-products in the final product.
  • Full disclosure of all ‘insignificant’ and ‘natural’ ingredients.

Being a BeVeg-certified company has the benefit of differentiating from competitors, conveying greater product reliability to consumers, building consumer trust and ensuring brand loyalty.

To whom is it addressed?

The service allows companies to demonstrate that raw materials, production processes, and finished products have adhered to the standards for Vegan food, product or material production that did not come into contact with any animal substances.

The areas where certification is applicable are:

  • Vegan product certification (food, beverage, vitamins, cosmetics, makeup, perfume, textiles, fashion, furniture, manufacturing facilities, private labels)
  • Vegan alcohol certification (wines, beers, spirit)
  • Vegan business certification (establishments, restaurants)

How to obtain the certification?

Companies have to follow a specific procedure to obtain the certification:

  • Compilation of the information questionnaire
  • Submission of the technical/economic offer which, once accepted, constitutes a service contract
  • Audit at the company and related reporting
  • In the event of a successful outcome of the previous phases, certification is assessed by a RINA Decision Maker
  • In case of successful completion of the previous phases, the certificate is delivered to the company

Once the certification has been obtained, all BeVeg certified products are featured on the BeVeg website, social media channels, and on the Jane Unchained vegan news network. In addition to a press release, social media posts, and news features, certified products are frequently featured in articles and blog posts by global news media outlets.

What does it mean to be Vegan?

A Vegan is a person who does not consume products that come from animals and who abstains from using animal product in their daily routine (for example: beverages, food, cosmetics, clothes, etc.). Their buying decisions are more strict, thoughtful, and conscious in comparison to other consumers in this regard.

Why is it important to certify a product as Vegan?

Veganism is a global lifestyle phenomenon that is growing on average 1500% a year, and it is a highly searched keyword in search engines. Nowadays, topics such as compassion for animals, environmental sustainability, and the scientifically-proven health benefits of Vegan lifestyles are increasingly promoted and crucial in consumers’ lives and consumption decisions.

How to use BeVeg trademark? Where to find the BeVeg trademark?

If approved for certification after the audit process, BeVeg International will license the use of the BeVeg Vegan certification trademark symbol: the final paperwork for signature will be sent over and BeVeg will issue a high definition version of the symbol.
