Certification of cathodic protection personnel according to UNI EN ISO 15257 standard

Cathode protection operators are technicians specialising in the design, installation, control and maintenance of appliances and systems to protect metal structures from corrosion. Certification can be requested by employees, self-employed or unemployed persons. 
The certification of cathodic protection specialists is a tool to ensure the expertise of professionals in this field and is intended to best meet the needs of a market that requires uniformity in the competence and professionalism of the operators.

Areas of application

The competence levels and certification systems apply to the following areas:

  • on-land metallic structures; 
  • marine metallic structures; 
  • reinforced concrete structures; 
  • inner surfaces of metallic structures containing an electrolyte. 

Certification Procedure

The candidate must provide documentary personal information that includes a statement of his/her level of study, personal training and experience. 
To be eligible for certification, the candidate must meet the requirements for training and practical experience in cathodic protection as defined by UNI EN ISO 15257 and must pass the examination or assessment as specified in the RINA Regulations.
