Get detailed information on Monitoring and Reporting of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from International ship transport

As part of the MARPOL Convention, in October 2016, the Maritime Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted the Global Data Collection System.

The objective is to collect and analyze data on ships energy efficiency in order to make decision on what further measures, if any, are required.

The regulation will apply to ships above 5,000 GT on international voyages.

Regulatory focus

On 1st of March 2018, the Regulation 22A of the Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention on the Global Data Collection System will come into force.

On or before 31 December 2018, in the case of a ship falling under the scope of the Regulation, the SEEMP shall include a description of the methodology that will be used to collect the data required by regulation 22A of Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention and the processes that will be used to report the data to the ship's Administration.

The first reporting period will be the calendar year 2019. Companies shall collect and report, for each ship under the scope of the Regulation, the following data for each calendar year:

Deliverables

RINA is conducting pre-verification GAP-Analysis audits for shipping companies across the world.

RINA will act as RO in conducting the assessment of the SEEMP part II integration and the verification of the data to be reported starting from the calendar year 2019.
