RINA have the capacity to assess components and systems of varying design requirements, geometries, and materials. We strive to provide sound engineering recommendations to assist in decision making prior to, during, and after component use.

Onsite metallurgical and condition assessments

During shutdowns, time pressures can be tight, so you need to get inspection activities and assessments done right the first time. Our experienced technicians and metallurgists work with you to achieve high quality results, delivered when you need them.

Our technicians have experience replicating the wide range of materials found on power generation, petrochemical and refinery sites and have inspected and assessed a wide range of components such as high-energy pipework, headers, boiler tubes, pressure vessels, furnaces, steam reformer outlet systems as well as turbine rotors and casings.

Fitness For Service

FFS (Fitness For Service) procedures are complex, require state-of-the-art analytical, metallurgical, mechanical tests and involve multidisciplinary engineering analyses.

Test results can be used for the theoretical calculation of components’ fitness for certain design specifications. Often, the irreversible damage to equipment also calls for an alteration of the original design and production specifications, for example a lower production rate or reduced stress conditions, as per the feasibility of running the equipment.
