Metocean studies are one of the most important basic items for design, in offshore, coastal and marine engineering.
A good understanding of metocean conditions helps address design choices and make the best cost-effective solution. A proper definition of the metocean conditions allows a good planning of the offshore operations, minimizing any waste of time and uncertainty in the engineering specifications.
Metocean studies are provided for all project stages, from feasibility to FEED/EPC, from simple site selection to detail design, from survey specifications to third party review. Besides metocean studies, other metocean related issues are assessed, such as induced sediment transport, seabed evolution, water discharge dispersion.
Morphodynamic studies concern assessment of coastal erosion, coastal defence works, natural trench backfilling and cover requirements for pipeline landfalls.
Furthermore, metocean and structural monitoring systems are designed and installed, in order to use the resulting information to customers’ benefit.
Furthermore, metocean analyses are fully integrated with a wide range of services: manoeuvring simulations, EIA studies, offshore structures/pipeline/cables design, sea transport design, planning of offshore operations, seakeeping analyses.
RINA team have conducted interdisciplinary studies and research in the marine environment field at various geographical sites and ecotypes, in rugged seas as well as in tropical environments.
