2024 was a year of evolution for RINA, in which we developed the new strategic plan and rethought our operating model. Sustainability has remained a firm point in our path and, indeed, has guided the most strategic choices, one above all in the context of the energy transition, think for the future and the development of RINA.
We are a “knowledge company” open to the world: the sharing of skills within us allows us to create sustainable ecosystems around us, thanks to the involvement and collaboration of all stakeholders - for the benefit of the entire value chain. There are several examples of activities that represent this approach: from the project on CO₂ capture in Malaysia to the “Hydra” project, an emblematic case of open innovation that we are carrying out in Italy.
The people who work at RINA and their skills are our added value and, for this reason, issues related to diversity and inclusion are increasingly important. We have therefore worked on a roadmap dedicated to the DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging) issues, where precise KPIs are defined that will lead us to further improve on these fronts. In Italy, we have made significant progress, for example by improving the scores obtained during the renewal of the certification for gender equality, already acquired in 2023 for the Group’s Italian companies.
Not only have we earned this certification ourselves, but we continue to support those who follow this path.
2024 was a turning point for the ESG sector, marked by the entry into force of many European regulations that redefined the regulatory framework. By adopting the new principles of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) from 2024, we are committed to ensuring greater transparency and comparability of sustainability information.
Looking ahead, RINA will continue to invest to reduce absolute emissions by 90% by 2050 in line with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). At the time of writing this report, in April 2025, RINA S.p.A. has approved near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets with the SBTi.
