Dote Baby has developed an AI-powered connected baby monitor that captures daily patterns and sleep logs, while also providing smart monitoring. Due to the innovative features enabled by Artificial Intelligence and connectivity Dote Baby required support to understand which regulations would apply before the product could be sold in the UK, EU and United States.
Like many growing businesses bringing innovative products to market, Dote Baby had already carried out research using publicly available information and AI tools. This provided useful background information, but it did not address the practical questions faced by the development team: which regulations apply? What testing will be needed? Which standards should be followed? How can compliance be integrated into the product development process?
As development progressed, the team needed assurance that the regulatory requirements were embedded in the design early enough to avoid delays, redesign, unexpected testing costs, or barriers to market access.
Our work provided Dote Baby with a clear route to regulatory compliance and market access.
The team gained confidence that the applicable regulations had been correctly identified and understood. Potential compliance risks were identified early, allowing them to be addressed before becoming costly development issues. Product decisions could be made with a clearer understanding of the regulatory implications, reducing uncertainty and helping more efficient development.
Through ongoing collaboration, regulatory compliance becoming an integrated part of Dote Baby’s product development process, helping the company bring an innovative connected product closer to market with confidence.
