The new version of the ISO 37001:2025 standard has been published, replacing the previous 2016 edition. This significant development strengthens and refines management systems for the prevention of corruption, introducing substantial updates and new opportunities for organisations.
- Climate change: new sub-clauses have been introduced regarding the relationship between anti-bribery management and the environmental context, promoting a more deeply rooted culture of compliance.
- Conflicts of interest: more detailed guidance is provided to identify, manage, and mitigate risks.
- The concept of the anti-bribery function: a more precise definition of roles, responsibilities, and levels of independence.
- Harmonisation with other ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001 and ISO 37002): greater terminological consistency and easier integration.
RINA is initiating the transition process for all accredited certificates, in accordance with the requirements of the IAF MD30:2025 document and the Accredia technical circular. The transition can take place:- During a scheduled audit (surveillance or renewal), by integrating verification of the new requirements.
- Through a dedicated transition audit, if required by the complexity of the management system or specific customer needs.
During the transition audit, the following will be verified:
- Adaptation of the management system to the new requirements.
- Updating of company documentation.
- Training and awareness of personnel.
- Risk assessment and management of conflicts of interest.
At the end of the audit, if the outcome is positive, the certificate will be updated to ISO 37001:2025, keeping the original audit cycle unchanged.
- From February 2026: start of transition audits for already certified clients (subject to a positive decision from the Accreditation Bodies).
- From 31 August 2026: all new certifications and recertifications will be issued exclusively in conformity with ISO 37001:2025.
- By 28 February 2027: all ISO 37001:2016 certifications must be migrated to the 2025 version.
The RINA team is available to support you in the transition to ISO 37001:2025, identifying the most suitable methods and dates to address the change while ensuring continuity and full compliance with accreditation requirements.
