RINA will perform the accredited independent assessment for the "Phase-II Extension" project of Bangalore metro in India

An experienced team has been put together to fulfill competency requirements, using key staff from RINA Transport & Infrastructure, both in Italy and in India

A few months further to the first contract awarded from a Metro Authority in Jaipur, today we celebrate another success for our Railway Independent Safety Assessment services in India: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation signed with us a contract for the accredited safety assessment of the Signalling & Train Control System for the “Phase-II Extension” project.

Currently the Bangalore metro Phase-I is made up of the Purple Line (East-West) and the Green Line (North-South) crossing at a central interchange station, with an extension of roughly 42,30 km.

Trains of 3 cars consist are currently running on Bangalore metro Phase –I network.

Due to the works and tasks within the scope of the new Phase-II Extension project:

  • The Purple and Green lines are being extended in all the 4 directions for a route length of roughly 33.77 km
  • The aforementioned 3 cars consist are being converted into 6 cars consist.

For this strategic project, an experienced Team has been put together to fulfill competency requirements, utilizing key staff from RINA Transport & Infrastructure both in Italy & India. The team has been established to ensure that it encompasses domain knowledge, experience of the application, as well as having experience in assessing complex metro projects. The proposed team members demonstrated to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation to have the drive, commitment and competence necessary to work with this Metro Authority, ensuring that the goals of the project are met.

This project represents the second contract awarded from a Metro Authority in India in a few months.
