RINA China won 12 units of RoRO Carries With Jinling Shipyard

On 30th June China has signed the Lump-sum Supervision with Jinling Shipyard for 12 units of RoRo Carrier hybrid vessels

On 30th June China has signed the Lump-sum Supervision during Construction Service Agreement with Jinling Shipyard for 12 units of RoRo Carrier hybrid vessels including 9 units of 7800LM and 3 units of 5800LM RoRo Carrier.

The designer of the project is KUND E HANSEN based Danmark. The total 12 units of the project are sister vessels with same main dimensions. 9 units of the 12 have the capacity to carry 7,800 lane meters of cargoes and another 3 units has reduced one layer of deck and can carry 5,800 lane meters of cargoes. Besides, the 3 units of 5800LM will be built according to the highest Finnish/Swedish ice class, as the vessels will be deployed in the Baltic Sea.

The ro-ro vessels will also feature a car deck area of 5,600m² and a weather deck with a cargo-carrying capacity of 300 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The units will be assigned with GREEN PLUS class notation and will be among the most modern and environmentally friendly vessels. They will have the latest generation of engines to ensure the lowest fuel consumption and lowest CO2 emissions and will be fitted with exhaust gas scrubbers. Delivery from the shipbuilder is expected in the 2020-2022 time frame.

Owner of the 9 units 7800LM RoRo carrier is Grimaldi Group and the 3 units of 5800LM RoRO carrier is Helsinki headquartered Grimaldi Group controlled company Finnlines. The 7800LM units will be operated by Grimaldi Lines in the Mediterranean while the three Finnlines ships, which will be built to the highest Finnish / Swedish ice class, will be deployed in the Baltic Sea.

These vessels are designed to be flexible for all type of RO/RO cargo, with the tank top and main deck having strengthened bulkheads and being free of pillar areas to accommodate paper and Sto/RO cargoes.

Jinling Shipyard was founded in 1952. It is the biggest mainstay shipbuilding enterprise under the state-owned SINOTRANS & CSC Group, which has been incorporated into China Merchant Group in Dec 2015.

The yard has two building bases, original base locates in Nanjing while 2008 completed new base locates in Yizheng- another city close to Nanjing. Jinling shipyard covers a total area of around 1,230,000 square meters with a coastline of 3,250m, which is capable to build different type of vessels like RORO vessel, production oil tanker, chemical tanker, platform supply vessel, Container vessel. Multi-purpose vessel, bulk carrier and floating dock and semi-submarine barge etc.

RINA China has profound relationship with Jinling Shipyard and has successfully cooperated for 3 units of 6700PCTC carriers. The last vessel of the series was delivered in Jan 2018. The good service of RINA team has been acknowledged by the shipyard and ship owner.
