Introducing new measures to avoid or mitigate relevant impact

Nowadays, electronic technologies are becoming essential to the management and operation of a large amount of shipboard equipment, including some considered critical for safety and pollution prevention or necessary to comply with mandatory rules. In addition, all information and communications from shore to ship and vice versa transiting in digital way. Therefore, ships are exposed to ‘cyber threats’, including tampering or damage of hardware, injection of erroneous data, sending of email with information deviating from secure procedures.

According to incoming threats, our new course Cyber Security On Board (code S-I04) introduces measures able to avoid or mitigate relevant impact.

However, protect shipboard computerised Operational Technologies systems (OT) is everybody’s responsibility and the individual awareness is a paramount to protect ship’s electronic systems.
