The demand for water in urban areas requires an increasingly efficient and sustainable water management, directed at reducing the water production intended for buildings, encouraging the saving of water resources, diminishing the waste of water and guaranteeing water safety for citizens’ health.
The WISDOM project (Water analytics and Intelligent Sensing for Demand Optimized Management) aims to achieve this goal through the development of an innovative water management system based on integrated ICT solutions that is able to monitor the water network almost in real-time. The province of La Spezia will be one of three areas in which the system will be tested.
WISDOM is co-financed by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Program (Grant Agreement no. 619795) and developed by a multidisciplinary consortium with partners from four European countries (Italy, France, Spain and the United Kingdom): four water network operators / water authorities (Società Acquedotti Tirreni, Province of La Spezia, municipality and utility of the city of Cardiff), two universities (University of Cardiff and Imperial College of London), one research center (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment), two consulting engineering companies (D’Appolonia S.p.A. and IDRAN Ingegneria e Tecnologia Srl) and two industrial partners (INTEL and Advantic Sistemas y Servicios sl).
