ISO/IEC 17065 defines the requirements that certification bodies must meet to ensure competence, consistency and impartiality in the certification of products, processes and services.

RINA has achieved ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation for wind turbines in accordance with IECRE documents covering:

  • Type certification: confirms that a specific wind turbine model has been designed, tested and manufactured in compliance with international standards.
  • Component certification: verifies that turbine components such as blades, gearboxes, generators, inverters and transformers meet the requirements of the applicable standards.
  • Project certification: assesses the conformity of an entire wind farm or individual installations associated with a wind energy project.

Thanks to this accreditation, RINA is authorised to perform independent third-party conformity assessments for wind turbines installed both onshore and offshore, supporting manufacturers, developers and operators in demonstrating compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
