Transition timeline to Version 7

A 12-month transition period has been established to allow certified organizations and certification bodies to adapt to the new requirements. The key milestones are as follows:

  • 30 April 2027: until this date, audits may still be conducted and completed according to Version 6 of the standard.
  • 1 May 2027: all audits carried out from this date onward must be performed in accordance with Version 7.
  • 30 April 2028: final deadline for completing transition audits to Version 7.
  • After this date: all certificates issued under Version 6 will be withdrawn.

What’s New in Version 7?

  • Introduction of the new ISO 22002-x:2025 series, replacing ISO/TS 22002-x.
  • Improved definition of food chain categories and subcategories.
  • Updated and strengthened FSSC additional requirements, including requirements related to laboratories, specification management, food defense, food fraud, food safety and quality culture, product and packaging development, allergen management, environmental monitoring, and food loss and waste management.
  • Updates to certification process requirements, including minimum audit duration and the management of multi-site and remote audits.
