We are proud to announce our role as the team leader of the consortium selected to design the Malpensa Hospital (Grande Ospedale della Malpensa).
The hospital, which will serve the 450,000 residents of the Valle Olona area, has been commissioned by the Lombardy Regional Health Authority. The project will unify the existing Gallarate and Busto Arsizio hospitals into a single, state‑of‑the‑art medical campus strategically located between Milan and Varese.
In partnership with Zaha Hadid Architects, Studio Plicchi Srl, WSP, STI Engineering (Design & Consulting), and BC Building Consulting, the project combines architectural excellence, sustainability, and a human‑centred approach.
What distinguished our proposal in the international competition is a strong, shared focus on people. We are designing a campus that brings together nature and therapeutic environments, enhances accessibility and wellbeing, and remains flexible enough to accommodate future advances in medical technology.By placing patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader community at the core of the project, we demonstrate that healthcare facilities can be both iconic and profoundly human.
This project embodies a strategic vision, a deep sense of responsibility, and the collective commitment of Regione Lombardia, ARIA, Politecnico di Milano, Provincia di Varese, ATS Insubria, local administrations, the technical bodies involved, and ASST Valle Olona.
