Steel is a trillion-dollar industry ripe for disruption. The process for producing metal alloys has remained the same for more than a century. Steel mills and product manufacturers alike have been playing a game of compromises and trade-offs. With stainless steel, corrosion resistance comes with reduced formability. In electrical steels, it is difficult to attain combinations of high induction and core loss for more efficient electrical motors. After 25 years of working in the steel industry, Arcanum Alloys’ founder, Dan Bullard, began to explore ways to eliminate these trade-offs.

Arcanum Alloys breakthrough process uses state-of-the-art vapor deposition techniques to decouple surface properties from the bulk properties of metals. After perfecting the process at a research laboratory in Silicon Valley, we are actively pursuing partnerships with multiple steel manufacturers in the Midwestern United States and Canada. Large manufacturing customers in the home appliance, commercial kitchen, and architectural industries have validated our products. Our process is already transforming industrial metallurgy, and we are ready to meet a plethora of new challenges.
