A CBM system works through sensors that detect 24/7 noise and vibrations of an asset, evaluating their residual lifetime and the probability of breaking
Condition Based Monitoring is a maintenance strategy that allows to monitor the actual condition of an asset, extracting information to understand the machines' actual wear, degradation and if a relevant change has occurred. The idea behind it is that maintenance should only be done when a consistent decrease in the equipment's performance is observed: thanks to the CBM outputs, it is possible to adjust the maintenance tasks and set up preventive, prognostic and trend investigations as well.
The RINACube CBM application is based on online sensors that:
Detect in continuous noise and vibrations of the asset
Evaluate the residual life time of the asset
Evaluate the probability of breaking, as well as the time between one break and another
Provide with a real-time alert when specific thresholds are exceeded.
Advantages
The CBM application:
Allows the scheduling of preventive and corrective actions at the optimal time
Increases the time between maintenance actions
Works while the asset is working
Minimizes unexpected failure risk
Improves the equipment reliability
Improves workers' safety
Can provide predictive maintenance, by implementing an algorithm based on historical data or by manually entering the data (whenever deterioration processes are more easily detectable through the direct observation of an inspector).
