RINA’s strategic sustainability plan embodies our vision and tangible commitment to integrating sustainability throughout every facet of our business. Through a structured strategy, aligned with ESG objectives and the leading international standards, we aim to generate shared value for the company and all our stakeholders. The plan establishes priorities, actions, and key indicators to guide the transition toward a responsible and innovative growth model, grounded in cutting-edge solutions and a responsible business approach. In this way, we make a concrete contribution to building a fairer and more sustainable future.
The plan is structured into six strategic pathways, each fully aligned with the company’s material topics as identified through an in-depth analysis. These pathways represent the key areas on which RINA focuses its commitment to generating sustainable value and concretely addressing stakeholder expectations.
At RINA, we believe that embedding ethics into our corporate strategy is essential. Ethical decision-making lays the foundation for long-term success and helps attract and retain talent, customers, and investors.
- The release of revised corporate policies on ESG matters: RINA updates or introduces policies on sustainability-related topics (e.g. human rights, mobility, energy use) to align with ESG goals and ensure stakeholder awareness.
- Sustainability governance: an ESG Committee and a cross-functional Working Group oversee the definition, implementation, and monitoring of the Group’s ESG strategy.
- Double materiality:RINA applies a dual lens (impact and financial materiality) to identify key sustainability topics and integrate them into strategic decision-making.
- Remuneration: variable remuneration for managers who are members of the ESG Committee and the Working Group is also tied to achieving at least one ESG-related goal. By 2030, this remuneration criterion will be extended to all middle managers in the Group who are eligible for an MBO.
- Stakeholder engagement: RINA actively engages its internal and external stakeholders, grouped into clusters corresponding to investors, customers, human capital, suppliers, and the wider community, to understand their expectations, gather feedback, and foster relationships built on trust and collaboration.
- Digitalization: RINA aims to integrate digital technologies into all services and processes through the AI Factory, the core of its digital strategy. This initiative focuses on three main areas: large-scale innovation, data and AI-based solutions, and the AI Factory unit.
- Innovation: RINA adopts a strategic and proactive approach, valuing dialogue with local communities and partners to co-design sustainable solutions. This method facilitates project acceptance and mitigates risks, creating collaborative networks capable of tackling the challenges of an ever-evolving market.
- Health & Safety: RINA promotes a health and safety culture via ISO-certified systems, risk assessments, anonymous reporting, and continuous training and communication.
- Human Rights: a dedicated working group is developing a Human Rights Action Plan, reflecting the company’s ethical commitment and determination to promote and safeguard fundamental rights in every aspect of its activities.
- Cybersecurity: RINA implements ISO 27001-certified systems, MFA, anti-phishing tools, and continuous monitoring to protect digital infrastructure.
- Privacy: Ethical data management is integrated into ESG strategy through consent platforms and privacy risk assessments to build trust and resilience.
- Integrity & Anti-bribery: RINA has implemented a management system for the prevention of corruption, whose compliance with ISO 37001 standards is certified for RINA S.p.A., RINA Services S.p.A., RINA Consulting, and RINA PT Indonesia.
- Reputational Due Diligence: a screening platform supports risk assessment of third parties to prevent legal, financial, and reputational harm.
- IT Transformation: RINA is modernizing its IT landscape with cloud-first strategies, AI integration, and new platforms to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
RINA integrates sustainability into its supply chain by encouraging suppliers to adoptsustainable practices, both from an environmental and social governance perspective.
- Sustainability of the Supply Chain: RINA evaluates supplier ESG performance through platforms like Ecovadis and Open-es,applying thresholds and corrective actions, and later using the RINA Sphere digital platform,designed to optimise and digitalise the entire supply chain process, with a strong focus ontransparency, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Supplier Emission Reduction Agreements: RINA engages suppliers in its decarbonization efforts by mapping emissions and settingreduction targets using the Carbon Action Manager (CAM) tool by Ecovadis.
RINA is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Update of the company car fleet: transition towards a fully electric car list by 2028, with an interim phase including hybrid and HVO-powered vehicles.
- Charging points: RINA plans to install 30 charging stations at its main Italian offices and will extend installations to major foreign and medium-sized offices by 2030. Employees will also be offered the option to install home wall-box chargers under favorable conditions.
- Travel and business trip policies: minimization of non-essential travel, promotion of digital tools, and adoption of sustainability criteria for travel and accommodation.
- Mobility and home-work commuting: encouragement of sustainable transport for commuting, with financial incentives and bike-sharing services.
- Purchase of electricity from renewable sources: By 2030, RINA will source electricity exclusively from renewable sources, where available.
- Electrification of offices: transitioning from fossil-fuel systems to clean, efficient electric solutions by 2030.
- Energy efficiency in offices: energy efficiency improvements in offices by 2030.
RINA considers promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and investing in its people essential, ensuring an inclusive and respectful work environment through training and development programs.

- Sustainability training: RINA will provide both mandatory and optional ESG training, delivered online and in-person, on ESG topics to raise awareness and build competences, supported by surveys and co-design workshops.
- DEI&B Strategic Plan: the DEIB 2030 Strategic Plan promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through targeted programs on gender, generation, geography, mental health, disability, parenthood, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
- Training: RINA provides continuous learning via the Digital Academy and tailored courses, with a new 2025–2030 strategy to align content with evolving market needs.
- Performance evaluation: a structured annual process includes goal setting, reviews, and feedback, enabling training needs identification and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Engagement survey: a biennial initiative to monitor employee engagement and improve the work environment, supporting talent retention and professional growth.
