Safety of on-board equipment for Aerospace & Defence, Railway and Automotive

Design, development, integration, testing and qualification of on-board equipment according to the reference standards and guidelines

RINA equipment engineering services are provided to Aerospace & Defense ( RTCA, ARINC, EN-9100), Railway (CENELEC) and Automotive (ISO) domains.

Starting from the technical specification or a legacy unit, our service consists in the design, development, integration, testing and qualification of on-board equipment according to the reference standards and guidelines:

  • RTCA DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, SAE ARP4754, ARP4761, ARINC for Aviation Applications
  • ECSS for Space Applications
  • CENELEC EN 50126, 50128, 50129 for Railway Applications
  • ISO 26262 for Automotive Applications

The last phase consists in the transition from the prototyping to the pre-series (once the qualification and eventually the certification of the units is accomplished).

In particular, our service implies:

  • Improvement of equipment performance with the reduction of size , weight and power consumption.
  • Refurbishment of units affected by components obsolesce, by re-design, qualification and certification and delivery of Form Fit and Function equipment replacing the legacy ones.

Deliverables

Our equipment development processes are executed according to internal quality standard compliant with EN 9100 standards.

Specific domain standards are applied when required by the Customer's specific domain  (Aviation, Railway, Automotive etc.).

At the beginning, the Customer provides input for the equipment technical specification, including the related system requirements as well.

Our engineering teams start performing all the development processes:

  • project management and planning;
  • requirements analysis;
  • design and implementation
  • integration, validation and verification;
  • qualification (functional and environmental);
  • delivery supported by quality assurance and configuration management processes.

When needed, the production of the equipment is carried out according to the EN 9100.

A screening test process (ESS burn-in) is performed on each shipped equipment in order to reduce the probability to have failures during the effective operation.

Why RINA?

  • Affordability and High Quality of the equipment;
  • Delivery time and high reliability of the on-board equipment installed
