We have completed multiple pavement maintenance and repair projects for railroad intermodal terminals.
These projects feature the restoration of critical pavement areas within the terminals to accommodate ongoing intermodal operations.
We served as the general contractor for each of these projects, all of which are located within terminals across the eastern United States. Typical project services include removal and replacement of existing asphalt and concrete pavement, installation of catch basins and other drainage features, and subgrade improvements (including cement stabilization).
All work is closely coordinated with intermodal operations to maintain an active facility.
We were selected to build the expansion of an existing transload facility located in the Midwest.
The scope of the work included 2,400 feet of new railroad track, a 6,450 square yard asphalt staging area, and various drainage improvements. A total of 10,000 cubic yards of soil was excavated, graded, compacted, and tested.
We were initially selected in a construction-only capacity to complete this project. As the project progressed, we were able to lend its design expertise to several components of the project, in effect turning this into a design-build project.
Design services provided by us included survey, geotechnical, rail, and civil drainage design.
Our construction services included construction management and contracting, material procurement, scheduling, cost estimating, and safety management.
Canadian National (CN) engaged our company to provide a turn-key design-build project to expand their chemical transloading operations in their Warren, Michigan railyard.
Four different liquid chemical products are transloaded at the site from railcars into delivery trucks. The existing tracks were lengthened to accommodate ten additional railcars onsite and the existing steam, nitrogen, water, and electrical utilities were upgraded and expanded to increase the facility's transload capacity.
We also procured and installed a new boiler and two new mobile unloading gantries for the site.
Engineering services performed by us included structural design, rail design, electrical design, civil and site drainage design, mechanical design.
Construction services performed by us included construction management, at-risk contracting, material procurement and logistics, scheduling, cost estimating, project safety management, and coordination with facility operations.
We were selected to assist the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) with the design and construction management of their new inland port terminal in Greer, South Carolina. The inland terminal design and construction required topographic survey, permitting, track layout design, drainage design, pavement design, facility utility design, geotechnical exploration and analysis, bid package preparation, and construction management.
