Discover more about LEONARDO project
The LEONARDO project was presented at the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management, held on Kos Island, Greece, from 24 to 27 June 2026.
During the conference, Dr. Michaela Papageorgiou delivered an oral presentation on the industrial integration of energy management flexibility tools within critical infrastructures. The presentation highlighted the project's approach to improving industrial energy flexibility and shared early insights from LEONARDO's ongoing activities.
The conference provided an important international platform to engage with researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers, fostering discussion on innovative solutions for sustainable and flexible energy management.
Representatives of the LEONARDO project participated in the E-BUSCO project meeting held in Athens on 22–23 April 2026.
Invited as a sister project, the LEONARDO team presented the project's objectives, ongoing activities, and future plans while exchanging experiences with the E-BUSCO consortium. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to discuss common challenges and identify potential areas of collaboration.
The event reinforced the commitment of both projects to promoting knowledge sharing and creating synergies that support Europe's energy transition.
On 4–5 March 2026, the LEONARDO consortium met in Austria for the project's 2nd General Assembly, hosted by EVON GmbH.
During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress achieved during the first months of the project and discussed upcoming activities across all work packages. Updates were presented on industrial flexibility services, semantic interoperability, system integration, pilot site implementation, and the long-term sustainability of project results.
The programme also included interactive workshops and a technical visit to Gsellmann Mischfuttererzeugung GmbH, where partners explored real industrial processes and discussed practical applications of energy flexibility solutions.
The LEONARDO project officially started with its Kick-Off Meeting held on 24 September 2025 in Trento, Italy, at the premises of the project coordinator, Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK).
The meeting brought together all consortium partners for the first time, providing an opportunity to align on the project's vision, objectives, and work plan. Participants strengthened collaboration, defined the first milestones, and established the foundations for the activities that will drive LEONARDO over the next three years.
The successful launch marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to unlock industrial flexibility and support Europe's sustainable energy transition.
