ROBINS Project workshop at Posidonia 2020

29 Oct 2020

Focus on robotics technology for inspection of ships

Today there are still barriers to the adoption of Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) in inspection of ships. The ROBINS project, co-funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 EU Research and Innovation programme, aims to fill the existing technology and regulatory gaps.

The biggest technology gap is related to the capability of RAS to provide at least outcomes equivalent to those obtained by traditional procedures. On the other side, the regulatory gaps consist in the possibility to verify such equivalence.

How to make ship inspections safe and cost-effective?

During Posidonia 2020, the ROBINS consortium members are holding a seminar to present the key findings of the project and illustrate its future development. The workshop is taking place on Thursday 29th October from 10:45 am to 2:30 pm.

At Seminar Room 2B, we are explaining how the adoption of RAS can simplify the preparation required for the inspection, with potential reduction of costs, and make the operations safer, since the need of a physical access in hazardous areas is reduced.

Please use this link for registration. As ROBINS project coordinator, we look forward to welcoming you and discussing with the maritime community the most topical issues in the field of ship inspections.
