The Action prepares engineering studies and plans, as well as construction drawings of 4 LNG retrofitted prototype vessels, and 7 LNG bunkering stations at core ports (5 prototype stations in Koper, Genova, La Spezia, Livorno, Venezia, and 2 fully operational LNG break-bulking stations in Nantes-St Nazaire, and Fos-Marseille).
RINA will support the Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures on the basic engineering projects of prototypes and pilots evaluation in accordance to the existing and forthcoming Rules for Ships Classification and Construction
The Action is part of the GAINN Global Project. Its activities include: final engineering projects of prototypes and pilots; prototyping; real life trials and pilots; building two LNG break-bulking stations in Nantes - St Nazaire and Fos - Marseille;
communication and coordination.
Successful completion of the Action will advance the Global Project, and will act as leverage for launching other mature, technically and socio-economically viable implementation actions for LNG bunkering in the Mediterranean by 2020.
