Monaco Yacht Club, Monaco (Principality of Monaco) from 10/25/2017 to 10/25/2017
On Wednesday 25th October 2017, RINA took part in the 5th Captains' day in Monaco, the workshop organised by the Italian Yacht Masters association. The seminar was held at the Monaco Yacht Club and it focused on "Steering to Green", a responsible choice.
The event was steered by Norma Trease, and more than 250 guests and sponsors of the yachting cluster were present. Moreover, a huge number of speakers contributed to solve environmental issues and elaborate new strategies to enjoy yachting and respecting the environment at the same time.
RINA Services contributed to the event thanks to the presence of Giorgio Gallo, invited by the association to speak about the most recent issues in terms of voluntary certification in the yachting industry. For example, our Green Plus Yacht recently reached 10 years of success, and thanks to it, a growing number of owners and captains are becoming more and more green.
Giorgio Gallo introduced also the new certification of RINA, the "Yacht Environmental Footprint Class Notation", based on a new green approach that should be considered the evolution of the Green Plus; the new certification will offer the possibility to assess the environmental impacts of the product along its entire life cycle. In fact, it is based on the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology for assessing environmental impacts and it evaluates all the key indicators, making it a reference methodology for manufacturing and marketing increasingly "green" products.
